- Rawalpindi Ring Road (R3) Connection
- This is the parent project. The Thalian Interchange is the final piece of Phase 1, connecting the 38.3 km loop from Rawat to the motorway.
- M-2 Motorway Integration
- The interchange acts as a strategic “merger” point where traffic from the Ring Road enters the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2) near the Islamabad International Airport.
- Frontier Works Organisation (FWO)
- The FWO is the lead contractor for this Rs. 5 billion component, and they have been formally instructed to mobilize and begin work immediately.
- Land Acquisition (358 Kanals)
- A key recent update involves the acquisition of an additional 358 kanals of land (on top of the initial 557 kanals) due to design changes aimed at reducing traffic congestion.
- Lahore Ring Road Toll Model
- The administration has announced that the Thalian Interchange (and the R3 project) will adopt the e-tag system and toll rates (proposed at Rs. 80 per vehicle) used by the Lahore Ring Road.
